WHAT IS OSHA??

In 1970 the United States Congress created the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to ensure safe and healthful working conditions for working men and women by setting and enforcing standards for American employers.

What does this mean?

Under Federal Law, employers are responsible for providing a safe and healthful workplace for their workers.  Employers must find and correct safety and health hazards by making feasible changes in working conditions.  Employers must provide safety training, keep accurate records of work-related injuries and illnesses, and perform tests and monitoring required by some OSHA standards, provide employees with required PPE, and much more.
